Six years ago around this time of the year, Overdrive asked readers to name the “best Christmas song of all time.” From a big list, readers then voted on a final top list — these songs represent the results, from bottom to top. (“I’ll be home for Christmas” took the top spot.)
Play the vid playlist above to count down various versions of the songs in the full list, and find other versions of 9 of the 11 via the playlist on Overdrive‘s Soundcloud profile below, headed up by one that didn’t make the top ten but is a good one besides from singer-songwriter Erich McMann’s “Trucker Country” record of several years back.
And for good measure, I’ve included what might be my new favorite Christmas song, period, a new-ish release from Heniff-leased owner-operator and singer-songwriter Bill Weaver, of Flippin, Ark., at the top of our “Music to Truck By” Spotify playlist for the week. Regular Overdrive readers may well have caught wind of this one via our own “Long Haul Paul” Marhoefer’s distillation of the experience of this year’s Truckers Christmas Group “Santa calls” to beneficiaries of their fund-raising efforts to help families in need.
If not, catch it along with other trucking-themed Christmas tunes via the Spotify playlist here:
And here’s to a great holiday week, whether it’s spent at home or on the road…
