The TravelCenters of America (TA) has opened up a bunch of new truck stops in the state of South Dakota. This truck stop was previously called a Coffee Cup Fuel Stop but has been renamed to TA Express sites. It’s a popular place for drivers to pop in when they are hauling freight in the Midwest. South Dakota has very few truck stop locations as you’ll figure out when routing freight through the state. Therefore, it’s a great idea to keep track of these local favorites and when new facilities open up so you can add these to your list of resources if you are a truck driver in South Dakota.

New TA Truck Stop Locations

truck service from ta truck stopRecently TA partnered with Heinz Inc. to redesign and rebrand the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop c-stores in South Dakota and North Dakota. All in all, there are six of these truck stops opening now or coming soon. You can now add the following cities to your list of truck stops in the Midwest:

  • Hot Springs, SD
  • Summit, SD
  • Vermillion, SD
  • Steele, ND
  • Rapid City, SD
  • Sioux Falls, SD

Note that the last two locations in South Dakota will be built from the ground up. These are not remodeled Coffee Cup Fuel Stops but standalone brand new travel centers for TA Express. The company states it will take a couple of years to get these new truck stops up and running.

According to the president and COO at TravelCenters of America, Barry Richards, “The Coffee Cup Fuel Stops are well-suited for the TA Express brand, and we’ve significantly grown our presence in the northern U.S. through the agreement with Heinz, Inc. “We’re looking forward to continuing our growth with the Coffee Cup team and be able to serve even more customers.”

What to Expect in TA Express

The TA Express truck stops including the newly remodeled locations will bring the total of the TravelCenters of America up to 261. For truck drivers in SD and ND who will get to take advantage of these amenities, here are what you can expect:

  • CAT Scale
  • DEF
  • Gaming room
  • Laundry facilities for truck drivers
  • TransFlo scanning services
  • 10 diesel pumping lanes
  • 6 gasoline fueling pumps
  • 3 truck driver shower stalls
  • 80 truck parking spaces

There is also a huge travel store where you will be able to pick up everything you need to make your trucking job easier and safer. Depending on the truck stop location that you go to for the TA Express, you have access to any combination of the following restaurants or fast food establishments:

  • Caribou Coffee
  • Cinnabon
  • Pizza Hut Express
  • Subway

These are some of the more popular places for truck drivers since they offer a good variety of menu options. You’ve got the healthier fast fare from Subway or something more hearty and hot from Pizza Hut Express. A cup of Joe from the Caribou Coffee combined with a Cinnabon dessert is another great combo that makes for some serious comfort over the road.
