Your phone bill. Your internet bill. If you’re 1099 then you are entitled to a roughly $67 day per diem deduction for every day you are not at home.
Your work clothes and boots, gloves. These are all legitimate business expenses. Anything you buy for the truck that your company doesn’t reimburse you for.
You are also you’re own little trucking company in effect.
This means after your expenses are deducted from your gross, you are entitled to an additional 20% tax credit.
So if you made $70,000, you have $10,000 in expenses and per diem, you’re adjusted gross is $60,000.
Now you get 20% of that $60,000 written off, or $12,000 right off the top.
